Background
The founder of iEquip has partnered with Native churches by providing classes in leadership training since 1987. As the years unfolded in this ministry, he has continued to observe much need for Biblical training and its relevancy in the Native cultural setting. This ministry equipping has resulted in the transformed lives of lay-leaders who follow Jesus Christ by faith.
In meeting this need, training leaders via the traditional theological education faces three significant obstacles: (1) Uprooting their families from communities where they add to its stability and move to a distance place, (2) leaving a good occupation when many depend upon them, and (3) affording the high costs of theological education. With these circumstances, they cannot simply resign from a job and enter the world of academics.
In recognition of this need, iEquip endeavors to provide sound Biblical training centered in God’s Word. It strives to give biblical quality training that will enable God’s servant for active ministries in their cultural setting. When iEquip prepares Native leaders in this context, they lead with increasing ministry effectiveness as they take the Gospel to their people while meeting the spiritual needs of God’s people.
Also, the broader movement of Native churches across North America is faced with an ever-changing cultural landscape bringing new challenges for their ministries, especially the cultural milieu from which God’s people come to the pathway of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this light, iEquip is in a unique position to equip Native church leaders who will meet these growing ministry demands through the changing power of God’s word with the enablement of the Holy Spirit.
